Corporate baby bump. I was able to squeeze into one of my favorite Anthro jackets. I think I pulled it off, yes?
Reverse warrior, at 21.5 weeks (Nala’s butt in the background).
One of my favorites.
I’m so grateful that my studio has an online library of all their classes.
Just finished up some yoga at home, wearing one of my hubby’s shirts.
Would you believe I’m only wearing underwear on the bottom?
Why not, I’m at home!
I’m almost 19 weeks with twins now… Over half way there!
A few things I’d like to jot down before they escape my memory forever.
1/12 - Pregnancy confirmed with doctor. I instantly put on a few pounds due to bloating.
1/13 - @ Wellesbourne. Lisa notices I’m not drinking but doesn’t bring it up until a week and a half later at Wurstkuche when again I’m not drinking. Nothing gets past her!
1/24 - Ultrasound due to some spotting. Surprise, it’s twins! Only one heartbeat is detected at this point, but it is still really early.
2/10 - 2/12 - DNS Mammoth trip and I’m not drinking or snowboarding. By this point most of the girls know, but not all of the boys do. I know Eddie knows, but he plays along and offers me drinks. Later he tells Lisa he was testing me. Funny guy! Our other friend Thomas is perceptive so I know he has figured it out, but I question whether the rest of the boys have. It’s doubtful; I have a herniated disc so it’s easy to blame sitting out on that.
2/28 - Dinner with my BFFs Natalie and Phoebe. Nat brings me a bag of maternity clothes. I promise to try them on when I get home but when the time comes I can’t bring myself to. They sit in the bag for about a week before I finally try them on.
3/12 - Dinner with Young and Diana. I share with them the news… They both start crying, but Young’s cry begins to turn into the “ugly cry”, complete with scrunched up face and gasping of air. It warms me up to see how happy all our loved ones are for us.
3/30 - Patrick invites the gang over for dinner. I’m in full maternity clothes (thanks, Nat!) for the first time. Two things special about tonight:
1) I was sitting on the couch when Connie arrived. She comes in, sits by me, giggles and pats my belly. My first belly rub! I always thought it my instinct would be to swat hands away but instead it made me smile. Time will tell whether belly rubs continue to make me smile…
2) When dinner was ready, Patrick and Tanya insisted that I help myself first saying “pregnant women always eat first.” I shyly obliged but secretly it made me feel super special.
4/1 - Text my friend Ann to share the news with her. Response: “Haha, Happy April fools day. So am I.”
Week of 4/5 (16 weeks) - Beginning to wonder if the gas/bubbles I’ve been feeling the past couple weeks are movement, after realizing that it’s always in the same spot. It feels like I’m being tapped lightly from the inside.
4/7 - My cousin’s wedding. My first belly pat from a stranger. Belly pats from friends are one thing, belly pats from a stranger are a completely different story. I cringe on the inside, but politely smile since the woman patting my belly is a new in-law to my cousin. We meet the gang at Broadway Bar after, for Tak and Patrick’s birthdays. I managed to squeeze into one of my non-maternity dresses, but my friends agree that I’m really starting to show. Dave is intrigued, and that creeps Jess out. Hah.
4/12 - 4/24 - Babymoon in Hawaii.
Week of 4/12 (17 weeks) - At this point I am certain that I am feeling the baby(ies) move! At first it’s always around the same time of day and in the same spot, but begins to become more sporadic and moves around.
Week of 4/19 (18 weeks) - In a way, I’m feeling more movement… they don’t feel just like light taps now, but it’s intermixed with thumps and rolls. But at the same time, there are long periods where I don’t feel anything. It makes me nervous. 4/19 - While coffee tasting in Kona I feel squirmy movement that lasts a few seconds. This is the first time it’s more than just a moment. 4/23 - On our way to dinner I told Eric that one of the babies are moving and put his hand on my belly to show him exactly where, not really thinking he’ll feel it for another few weeks. But right when I place his fingertips where there was a distinct tap, there was another and he felt it!
4/25 - Almost 19 weeks. Finally make an ‘official’ announcement on Facebook. I’m back in LA now, mellowing out and feeling more movement then ever today.
The most delicious salad: greens, cucumber, carrot, avocado, chikpeas, strawberry, pepitas, and sunflower seeds with citrus vinaigrette. Yum.
Last night’s dinner: Black bean burgers (Mark Bittman’s recipe, with the addition of mushroom, spinach, and carrot) in a whole wheat wrap with veggies and egg whites, and kale soup.
Kale soup: A pot of vegetable broth, minced garlic, diced onion, diced carrot, two handfuls of barley, one small handful of lentils, and two bunches of hand torn kale.
Tonight’s dinner: homemade pad thai with grilled bok choy (already took a bite!) On the side.
Just hanging out with my new Bread book by Jeffrey Hamelan. THANK YOU, PB (@shenglan22)!
One armed handstand.
My friend posted a picture of himself doing this,
so I went home and did it too.
Ever since my back went out earlier this year, I’ve noticed that my hip flexors are constantly tender and sore. I do this low lunge (red mat on the right is me) often, as it helps to get some of the tightness out. It feels great even with my hands on the floor by my feet, or on my knees.
